# KuCoin

For improved security and to maintain a clear distinction between your automated trading activities and other investments, we advise setting up a separate **sub-account** on KuCoin dedicated to Tradetomato.

To get your modules up and running on KuCoin, you will have to generate the necessary API keys to establish a live trading connection.

If you're new to KuCoin, create an account, or log in if you already have one. 

Try to create a robust password for your trading account and enhance your account's security by enabling 2-factor authentication.\

Verify your email and comply with KuCoin's identity verification process, reinforcing their stringent security standards.

**API Key Creation**

To initialize the API creation process, find 'API-Management' within your KuCoin's account interface.

* Click 'Create API' and opt for the 'API-Based Trading' option.&#x20;
* Provide a recognizable name to your API key, facilitating easy identification.
* Add an API passphrase to secure your account - If lost, a new API must be created.

**Select Permissions**&#x20;

During API key generation, ensure that you select appropriate permissions. For live trading, you'll need to enable the following permissions:

* **API Restrictions -** Tick off the following permissions:
  * [x] Spot Trading
  * [x] Margin Trading
* **IP Restrictions**
  * [x] Yes, API calls can only be made from trusted IP addresses

#### **Whitelist IP**

Strengthen security by whitelisting your IP address.

In the empty field under IP *Restrictions e*nter the IP addresses displayed to you on the Tradetomato platform, separating them with spaces.

**Generate Key**

When proceeding, you will be prompted to undergo a security verification, where you will be asked to provide your trading password, email verification & your 2FA code.

**Establish Connection**

Once your API is generated, copy the keys. Return to Tradetomato's connection setup and paste these credentials in their respective fields. Finally, fill in your API's passphrase to complete the setup of your connection.&#x20;
